Paris Eastern Gateway-Marne Valley Key Figures 2023
The Paris Eastern Gateway-Marne Valley covers a large area (25 km wide) stretching from the edge of Paris to Val d'Europe. It has a population of over 617,000 people with 220,000 jobs in an area of 300 sq km. Located with a residential area characterised by the river Marne and its surrounding natural spaces, the Paris Eastern Gateway area boasts leading competence hubs such as the Cite Descartes campus (University Gustal Eiffel), and is also the leading tourist destination in Europe. The Paris Eastern Gateway has a diversified economy with major firms and a large number of smal and mid-sized companies.
The Paris Eastern Gateway-Marne Valley area corresponds to the area of intervention of the historic development body for Marne-la-Vallee, EpaMarne-EpaFrance, extended in 2017 to cover 44 towns and villages from Champigny-sur-Marne (Val-de-Marne county) to Magny-le-Hongre (Seine-et-Marne county) including towns north of the Marne such as Chelles. EpaMarne-EpaFrance contributes, in partnership with local authorities and Paris Eastern Gateway stakeholders, to the residential, economic and urban development of the area, innovatively reconciling tomorrow's key challenges: climate, mobility, social and regional cohesion, health and nature in urban areas.
