Cergy-Pontoise Key Figures 2019
Located 25 km northwest of Paris, Cergy-Pontoise is an urban area of 208,000 inhabitants and 13 municipalities and a major economic centre in the Paris Region. It was certified as an ‘Industry Territory’ by the French government in November 2018. There are 13,800 people working in the industry sectors, including 6,000 in aeronautics and defence, 3,200 in logistics and 3,000 in the automotive industry. The overall 90,500 jobs in the area make up 21% of the workforce in the county of Val-d'Oise. Cergy-Pontoise is also the third largest university in the Paris Region with a student population of 30,000 and 1,500 teacher-researchers. Located at the gateway to the French Vexin Regional Nature Park, it offers an exceptional setting: 3,500 hectares of agricultural, forest and natural areas, an island of leisure activities, which give it a quality of life greatly valued by its residents.
